We all know Al Gore's remark about inventing the internet, though in his defense he didn't mean it the way it was interpreted according to Snopes. What most of us don't know is that in 1898 Mark Twain predicted the internet in a short story titled "From the 'London Times' in 1904". In the crime/mystery the man accused of murdering the inventor of the telelectroscope requests one for his cell on death row. Using the device he is able to speak to people all over the world and see the wonders to be seen. Sound familiar? Of course Mark Twain was what they called an early adopter in his time and was fascinated with technology. He was the first in his neighborhood to have a telephone and possibly the first author to use a typewriter. Just an interesting little tidbit to pass along on a Sunday.
