Cluck Off

I may be stereotyping but fried chicken is not the first food I would associate with Japanese cuisine yet it is Japan who holds the Guinness World Record for world's largest serving of fried chicken at 3,675 lbs. 18 restaurants specializing in karaage (Japanese style fried chicken) came together to break the record which was previously held by Japan! The resulting chicken was then fed to the crowd at The Karaage Festival. The previous record was 3,373 lbs set in 2017. The recipes I found for karaage chicken vary but mainly it is chicken marinated in soy sauce, sake, ginger and garlic, then coated in potato starch (or corn starch if potato is unavailable)and deep fried.
