So far it's still okay to refer to cannabis as pot,which is short for potacion de guaya a name for an alcoholic beverage that means "drink of grief". Marijuana is totally out for a name as the cannabis industry finds it a racist term, in particular a slur regarding Mexicans although they still tolerate the phrase medical marijuana. Weed is okay in some circles but in others not so much. Some of the older terms are also still acceptable,like reefer,devil's lettuce and jazz cabbage,some of which came from the "Reefer Madness" era. I remember being shown that movie in school,a group of guys smoked one joint and proceeded to go crazy ending of course by going on to bigger and better drugs,if I recall correctly. Mary Jane was never mentioned as a possible name but to be on the safe side it should probably be avoided.
