What is up with all these false pie sayings? Easy as pie? Anyone who has made pie knows they are not easy to make,then there's American as apple pie,another falsehood. Pies started out in Europe in the 13th century as a way of preserving foods,mostly meats and veggies at that time. As for apple pie it is a British treat that was even mentioned in the "Canterbury Tales" not to mention apple trees are not native to North America. The first cuttings and apple seeds were brought by Jamestown colonists for the purpose of making cider.
