A Happy Accident

AI,artificial intelligence always makes me think of certain people rather than computers but maybe that's just me? Enough of that thought before I go too far down that path. BakeryScan was developed in 2013 in Japan to make it easier and more sanitary (less handling) to identify bakery items. Now for the happy accident part...in 2017 a doctor watched a TV segment on the BakeryScan and noticed how the bread products used in the segment looked a lot like cancer cells under a microscope so he contacted the manufacturer and they agreed to make a medical version. That's how an AI named Cyto-AiSCAN was born, the new scan has a 99% accuracy rate. Pretty good results and good news all because of baked goods.
