Geniuses through the ages have all had their favorite go to ritual to get their creative juices flowing but most of those methods lacked credibility until Salvador Dali's sleep technique was revealed. His sleep strategy involved waking up at the time when reality starts to blend with fantasy. To get to that sweet spot he would fall asleep holding either a ball or a spoon and when he dropped the item it would wake him up at his creative spot. This method has been studied and is known as the hypnagogic state or N1,while in that zone one can imagine colors, shapes and bits of dreams. Now we can all understand why some of his work looked like a weird dream sequence, because they were.
