Fat Shaming?

Sadly, the first thing most people remember about President William Howard Taft is the story of him getting stuck in the white house bathtub, but did that really happen? A recent deep dive into the tub incident points to the negative. The big bathtub he had installed was not made after the alleged bathtub scene, the tub was special made for him before he became president and installed on the ship he was using while overseeing construction of the Panama Canal. There is no real evidence Taft was ever stuck in a tub, only rumors that were easily disproved. Ready for the fun/nasty part? Taft fought the porcelain trust when they were trying to set up a monopoly on toilets and bathroom fixtures so they could control costs for their benefit. It looks like an age old smear campaign on an overweight man who actually managed to do quite a lot of good for his time in office, then went on the serve on the Supreme Court. Time to give the guy a break.
