For the most part traditions have lost their original meaning and might as well be abandoned since they are largely superstitions from days of yore. For instance throwing rice at weddings was meant to wish the couple good luck and fertility,so how's that working so far? Then people started varying from the traditional and instead of throwing rice it became bird seed, blowing bubbles and recently one couple tried handing out instant mashed potato flakes which according to attendees was a disaster with the flakes sticking to everything that had a hint of moisture. So,I've got a great idea! instead of throwing perfectly good food around in a haphazard manner and sometimes causing injuries due to people slipping or being hit in the eye with projectiles why not go way back in time and just had out rattles that everyone can shake at the happy couple and also take home as a memento of the happy occasion?
