If the Shoe Fits

 Along with golf balls and various other litter Apollo 11 astronauts left behind their moon walk boots and portable life support systems, though it qualifies as litter the reason the boots were left was to offset the weight of the moon rocks brought on board.

 Queen Victoria was amused when she was presented with the first pair of  slip-on elastic sided boots which she wore daily and is thought to be the reason for their popularity. 

 

Though there is no actual contract Johnston & Murphy has been the unofficial footwear provider for U.S. presidents since 1850. The largest size they made was size 14 for Lincoln, the smallest was size 7 for Rutherford B. Hayes. Black wingtips were made for Kennedy, black cap toe for Reagan and black oxfords for Obama that came in a special box crafted from Hawaiian sourced wood.
