Originally daylight saving time was called war time because it started to save energy during WWI, it was ended after the war then brought back again for WWII and again repealed at that war's end. To most people's chagrin it was signed into law in 1966. Today only about 35% (around 70 countries) use the time change and for good reason. DST is disruptive and causes a rise in traffic accidents and heart attacks, not to mention the problems it creates for farmers who find it more difficult to get their work done early in the day and never mind the confusion the animals undergo with changes in milking and feeding times, though apparently the golf and barbeque industries must have a bigger lobby than farmers because they see more profit once daylight saving time starts. We all know money talks.
