The Grass Is Greener

 Speaking of things that do more harm than good people's obsession with lawns has to be near the top. Lawns weren't always a bad thing that is until Scott's Co. saw money to be made. Turf grass is not native to North America so to make it grow and be green chemicals are needed and Scott stepped up to the plate in 1948 with Weed & Feed (2,4-D). Now Americans were willingly spreading toxic herbicides on their lawns where their family and pets could be exposed. Scott's had created the perfect cash cow as 2,4-D also killed clover and blue grass both of which add needed nitrogen to the soil so now more chemicals were needed. Fortunately people are finally seeing the error of this regime and those who are opting to make a more organic choice are planting clover or wild flowers instead of turf of course there's also a handful of folks who decide to just paint the lawn area to avoid the whole issue of a lawn. Hopefully there will be more wake up calls answered in the future.
