Love Story?

 As far as history goes no one knows how St. Valentine became associated with love, monks worked their way through three centuries worth of evidence and found at least three Valentines but out of those three none had a remote connection to what we think of today as Valentine's Day, in fact two out of the three were beheaded and no matter how you try to pretty that up it had nothing to do with love. A holiday did exist on February 14th but it wasn't until Chaucer wrote about birds mating in the 1300s and later Shakespeare in in the 16th century writing about both Valentine and Cupid that either figure was related to love.
