AKA coolcations the "frozen effect" is an alarming trend of tourism to cold places to avoid the heat, wildfires and other unpleasant realities of climate change. After years of record breaking travel to Antarctica 2023 saw 235% increase in travel to the Arctic along with increases to most northern countries in general. The bad news is with the increased travel comes increased climate change from the vessels transporting both the tourist and the goods needed to sustain them. Not exactly a win-win situation.
