Invisible Cities is an organization that started in 2016 in the UK and has helped 118 formerly homeless people become tour guides. The program not only offers an income, it also gives the participants a sense of purpose and a skillset that can be applied to other jobs. The tours cost around $19 per person and give a unique look at the lesser known aspects of a city not offered on most tours. The money is split between the guides and Invisible Cities so they can fund more recruiting of the homeless. This is a genius plan to integrate homeless people back on a path to lead them to a better life by showing tourists what the underside of a city really is. About a quarter of the participants become guides while another quarter stay with the program in different capacities, the third quarter start their own venture after the training, the last quarter doesn't stay in touch.
