Considering the reputation of today's Lamborghini it's difficult to reckon with the vehicle's origin. Serving in the Italian Air Force during WWII as an aircraft mechanic, Ferruccio Lamborghini set out to make an affordable tractor so his farming countrymen could make a comeback. He did this by salvaging surplus military materials. With the proceeds from his tractor business he bought a Ferrari in 1958 and was unimpressed, so much so that he decided to make his own sports car which he finally launched in 1963, and yes they still make tractors!
