Not the Same Old Same Old

Franchises find a formula that works and adhere to those rules until their brand is imprinted on the human brain. With that thought in mind I was surprised to read about the McDonald's in Freeport,Maine that was built inside an existing mansion once owned by a local merchant. McDonald's kept with the flavor of the town not only by using the mansion and real wooden tables but also by including local favorites on the menu such as a lobster roll. I am a little miffed by their willingness to oblige the wishes of the town because I live in a historical town where they have strict rules about the appearance of businesses however the McDonald's here was given free rein on the architectural design perhaps the city planners sold out to soon?
