The local paper has a feature on Fridays that is composed of several interesting but unlikely stories. One of them this last Friday was about a stock picking cat named Orlando,an orange tabby who made his choices by throwing a toy mouse on a grid of companies. Those seemingly random choices over a year's time beat out both a team of investment professionals and group of students participating in the experiment. For those of you who are scoffing at Orlando's results he is not the first animal to best the pros,Adam Monk a cinnamon ring-tailed monkey circled his choices in the paper, consistently besting the investors. Lusha, the Russian circus chimpanzee beat 94% of Russian investment managers by picking cubes with company names on them. I will wrap this up with Raven the chimp who threw 10 darts and picked 10 winners, placing 22nd for the year out of 6,000 Wall Street pros. The moral of the story? Don't bother paying for a pro when your pet will out perform them!
