It's been a rough few weeks for feminism and other rights,now to add insult to our other injuries I found out that Gloria Steinem was not the one responsible for the quote,"A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle"in fact she wrote a correction to Time magazine in 2000 explaining the phrase was coined my an Australian educator,journalist and politician,Irina Dunn,who in 1970 paraphrased a saying by an unknown philosopher,"Man needs god like a fish needs a bicycle" and wrote the newly coined version on a bathroom door. Is nothing sacred?
