The scary part is this could happen any where but of course it happened in Florida. A 54 year old man was convicted of felony child abuse and sentenced to 14 months in prison after switching his stepson's daily medication with laxatives. The boy was on lithium for his mood and behavioral disorder,he complained of diarrhea and abdominal pain for a year and underwent colonoscopies and other less than pleasant procedures before his mother noticed that there was laxatives mixed in with his medication. She then set up cameras and discovered her then husband was the one tampering with the medication,she also found out why the other children were always losing clothing,homework and jewelry as her now ex was taking the items and hiding them in the trunk of his car. Never mind this man should have known better since he is on several medications himself though that didn't stop him. 14 months doesn't seem like nearly long enough unless they mix laxatives in with his medications,then maybe that would be adequate.
