Pears?

 December is pear month among other things but pears? I thought maybe because of the "12 Days of Christmas" song but decided to look it up and lo and behold USA Pears chose the month because 10 types of NW pears are harvested in December. I'm still having trouble with this factoid.

A couple of thoughts...why does cookie end in ie instead of y? and did anyone notice that Underdog Day comes right after Cat Herders Day?
