Egg-xactly

In case everyone didn't get the memo Humpty Dumpty is NOT an egg at no time does the rhyme suggest that he is an egg only that he had fallen and couldn't be repaired. The egg depiction came in 1871 when an illustrator for "Through the Looking Glass" decided to draw an egg like being. So who or what was Humpty?? Some believe it to be King Richard III who was riding a horse named Wall when he was hacked to death during the Battle of Bosworth Field leaving him in too many pieces to be saved. Another guess is Humpty was a cannon which sat on the walls of the city of Colchester when the city was attacked and took a great fall and was broken beyond repair as a result. Choose whichever story you wish or continue to mentally see Humpty as an egg since any way you decide it isn't a matter of life or death.
