Back in time there were some interesting names for colors as the title of today's post indicates. Puke was described as a high end cloth the color being between russet and black but also as a deep dark purple or puke color though in the 1500s names for colors in general left a lot to be desired. Pervenche was of course periwinkle, as goose turd green is an unappealing shade of green. I was unable to find an example of the color puke though it made me think of how royals and others high in the ranks of society were the only ones at that time who were allowed to wear purple which explains the title of today's post!
