Maybe everyone already knows this but it's an interesting cultural variation. In South Korea babies are considered 1 year old at birth, often referred to as Korean age, they reach this age by rounding up the 9 months spent in the womb to a year. With this type of measurement of age everyone also gains another year on January 1st,so it's possible to be born on December 31 and turn 2 years old the next day. Individual birthdays are still recorded and celebrated for medical and administrative purposes and are known as international age. A law was passed in 2022 to standardize the international age making many people 2 years younger, whew, that was fast!
