Man or Myth

According to historical origins St. Valentine could have been several different people while others lean toward him being a myth. The most popular historical figure was a Roman saint from the 3rd century who was thrown in jail for secretly marrying couples after an emperor forbid men in the military from marrying because it would make them less efficient soldiers. After Valentine was jailed for performing marriages his jailer taunted him about his religion and challenged Valentine to heal his blind daughter which Valentine did with a prayer. The jailer then released Valentine. Once the emperor found out what had happened he had both the jailer and Valentine beheaded on February 14,271 A.D. so much for romance.
