Remember Elsie the spokescow for Borden Dairy? I used to look forward to her commercials as a kid,Borden was a sponsor of one of the few shows on the two or maybe three channels we received.
Elsie was created in the 1930's to symbolize the perfect dairy product. Elsie's husband Elmer the Bull went on to achieve fame in Borden's chemical division as mascot for Elmer's glue. Elsie earned several honorary degrees from Universities,Doctor of Bovinity,Doctor of Human Kindness,and Doctor of Ecownomics,she also received the key to over 200 cities. In 2000 Elsie was named one of the top 10 advertising icons of the century. Sadly Elsie or rather Borden products are no longer available in my area.
