The regular reader among us perhaps will recall a blog I posted about a new beauty treatment that consisted of having your face lit on fire. Today's offering is another type of facial fad...snail guts and slime. It started when Chilean farmers who were raising snails for the French food market noticed smoother skin after handling the snails. The snails secrete glycolic acid and elastin to protect their own skin from cuts,bacteria and UV rays. It is a 100% pure and natural product to replace chemical skin creams,of course this isn't the first odd item to be used in beauty products,there have been chicken bone marrow moisturizers,bull semen shampoo,and bird feces spa treatments to name a few. There are various brands of snail gel available or for those of you brave? (read crazy) enough for the real thing you can get live snails put on your face in a spa treatment...I'll pass!
