Raise a Glass

A glass sponge that is,I posted something a few months back about how climate changes were actually making it possible in the Antarctic for things to grow in places they had never grown before, like glass sponges on the ocean floor. Not only are the sponges different from what a person would normally think of as a sponge they also can store carbon which may be helpful in figuring out ways to deal with the climate change, kind of like the rest of life really, until a change is forced it is hard to accept. Even though they are called glass sponges and are made up of silica,a component of glass, they aren't glass as we think of it. They are also known as Venus flower baskets and often entrap shrimp and other sea life.
The primary skeleton of many glass sponges is a network of large spicules that have fused together to form a matrix that defines the overall body shape of the sponge.
