From "Free the Ocean" trivia yesterday comes divers documenting octopuses punching fish,I find this interesting on several levels, first how hard could an octopus punch underwater? plus the reason for fish punching which are twofold. One of the fish that gets punched is because it is trying to steal the same meal that the octopus is trying to get but the fish is quicker so the octopus punches it to teach it not to repeat the behavior, not sure how that is working for the cephalopod or even if the fish in question is a repeat offender. The other punches were thrown for the fish that they sometimes team with to hunt their prey since the octopus can get their tentacles into crevices the fish can't get into, yet other times the octopus just hauled off and punched the fish for no discernible reason. We all know that feeling.
