Thanking the Little People

Sounds like part of an Oscar acceptance speech doesn't it? Actually in keeping with the St. Patrick's Day spirit, my aim is to honor leprechauns and introduce to those of you who haven't yet heard of them, the Menehune (pronouced meh-neh-HOO-neh). The Menehune are the little people of Hawaii that roam the forests at night. They are shy and small in size, about 2 feet in height,to as small as 6 inches. They are very industrious master builders that accomplish their feats of construction and engineering overnight. They are suggested to be the first settlers of Hawaii,as the Tahitians later reached Hawaii the Menehune were gradually driven north from the Big Island (Hawaii) to Kauai. The Menehune enjoy dancing, singing and archery. Like the little people from St. Valentine's Day they have been known to use magic arrows to pierce the heart of angry people to ignite feelings of love instead. They also enjoy cliff diving so if you hear splashes in the night on the islands,it is possibly a Menehune diving into the ocean.
