Although this incident happened in 2007 and received quite a bit of press it is so ridiculously funny,yet scary that I thought I would parade it back out. A single mother of four was arrested and fined $300 for cursing at her overflowing toilet in her own home. An off duty police officer heard her through the open bathroom window and yelled at her to stop,she yelled back, mind your own business and went on with the task at hand. The police officer called a complaint in and an on duty officer responded and charged her with disorderly conduct (this is in HER OWN HOME). I'm happy to say that when it went to court the judge dismissed the case as cursing at a toilet or police officer for that matter are both covered by the First Amendment. The city also gave her a settlement of $19,000 to avoid a law suit. Scary times we live in.
