A Stitch in Time

Today's post is something I stumbled upon without looking for it and found the implications of this discovery intriguing. Scientists have been working on films to repair different products for years but recently they have found that by infusing natural fabrics with proteins from the teeth of squid tentacles torn fabrics can mend themselves. This might not sound like huge news if you only think of it applying to fabrics as for the most part we have become a throw away society rather than mending worn items they are simply replaced. What I am hoping is this technology can also be applied to human tissue. Imagine the many life saving procedures that could come from this research. Certainly a much broader scope than some of the government funded studies that have been done. Regular readers may recall a post from July 30th about a few recent government funded studies.
