Heros

The word Heroin is derived from the Greek heros, the same word that brought us hero and heroine. First produced by Bayer in  1890s  Germany, Heroin was given to recovering Morphine addicts. Bayer is one of the more trusted over the counter drug names today, but like many companies,it never hurts to question their intentions. Also a good thing to keep in mind is that the FDA is pretty much bought and paid for by pharmaceutical companies.
As late as 1912 Bayer was promoting Heroin for children suffering from coughs, colds and irritation. This was after reports in 1899 that patients were developing a tolerance for Heroin and clamoring for more.
Today the FDA still approves products that are detrimental to your health, such as the artificial sweeteners found in diet drinks and foods which are maybe more subtle than Heroin, but deadly in their own right.
