Today's post reminds me a lot of some recent decisions made by a certain president who is supposedly a genius businessman,and since he is of Scottish decent on his mother's side and this story took place in Scotland it may just explain how his thought process works.
A 58 year old woman who suffers from multiple sclerosis had her motability car benefit taken away by the Department of Work and Pensions. She had used the leased car to drive the 33 miles to work and back. By denying her the car they saved $9,905 (every 3 years) but in order to ensure she had a way to continue working they offered to pay cab fare which amounted to $80,479 per year.
