Low Life

A new nematode species has been discovered 2.2 miles deep in the earth, before this discovery only microbes were known to occupy those depths, which are what the devil worm feeds on. The worm was first found in a South African gold mine, but it took considerable time and effort to determine if the worm had been tracked in by miners or had come out of the rock. Evidence was found that the worms had been there thousands of years surviving the crushing pressure and high heat of the depths. Not only does this extend the boundary of multi cellular life on our planet,it may extend to life on other planets.
