I ran across this bird on the trivia site I frequent and wanted to include it in a blog because of its unusual appearance.
The Great Blue Turaco (aka Psychedelic Turkey) has a stout body and long tail. Both sexes are identical and their coloration doesn't change during the year. They are poor fliers but excel at climbing and will hang upside down to reach fruit at the end of branches. They eat the fruit of trees and shrubs, and are found in sub-Saharan Africa, they are mainly arboreal. The Great Blue Turaco live in groups of 6-20 birds. They build a flimsy nest of twigs and leaves where the female lays two blue- green eggs. Their population is stable at this time, but the status may change with deforestation.
