This is just a little something I happened across that I thought was interesting. Jacob Grimm one of the Brothers Grimm of fairy tale fame, also made a linguistics discovery know as Grimm's Law. He published a book of his studies titled "Deutsche Grammatik" ("Germanic Grammar") which in a nutshell is a description formulated by Grimm pointing out prominent correlations between Germanic and other Indo-European languages of Europe and western Asia. I have often noticed this on my trivia site,that you can get pieces of other language by their similarities to the English counterparts. Of course the correct pronunciation is a whole other ballgame!
