To DC or Not to DC

The first Washington Monument (designed to honor George Washington) is located in Baltimore,MD. In 1815 a statue was designed by Robert Mills, who also designed the Washington Monument in Washington,DC at a later date. The 178 foot doric column has a ground floor museum with information about George Washington as well as about the construction of the monument. 228 steps to the top of the monument provides an excellent view of the city. The monument was closed in June of 2010 for safety reasons, missing mortar and rusted support brackets. Initially the closure was to last three months but as of December 2011 it is still closed. Does anyone know if it has reopened yet?
