Talking Turkey

Since Thanksgiving happens later in the month I thought a post about aggressive turkeys would be an appropriate topic. From the times I've been around wild turkeys I didn't find them particularly bothersome but apparently it is all about pecking order with them and that has to be established right away in order to not be challenged whether you are a human or another bird. Then again maybe the aggressive turkeys in Davis,CA knew if they didn't let the inhabitants of the city know where they stood that they were likely to end up on the Thanksgiving table. At any rate the citizens became so frightened by the birds they were afraid to go about their everyday routines, including in some cases going to work. The city council voted for a $20,000 trap and release program which also allowed for lethal removal in cases where the wildlife officials failed to capture the whole flock.
