Chalk It Up

Who knew there's differences in chalk? I've known pool players who had some odd chalk rituals but that's not the type of chalk I'm talking about but as it turns out mathematicians can also be a superstitious, hoarding bunch of folks. Hagoromo Fulltouch is described as the Rolls Royce of chalk and some even claim a false theorem can't be written using this special chalk. Even though the Japanese manufacturers of this ultimate chalk tried to keep it somewhat secret word spread and it became the global favorite. Then in 2015 with dwindling chalk sales the company closed its doors. This brought on the chalk hoarding and eventually some reselling that made normally honorable people feel like drug dealers doing illicit deals in back alleys.  A South Korean company bought the brand name and two of the chalk making machines, the third machine was sold to a Japanese blackboard company looking to expand their chalk line. No word yet if these companies make the same quality as the former manufacturer but time will tell.  I didn't even know chalk was still used since whiteboards and computers are usually front and center.
