Highway to Hell

Highway to Hell by Australian rock band AC/DC was released in July 1979.
Have you ever wondered where Lewis Carroll came up with the idea for "Alice in Wonderland"? I think it is generally thought that he may have been sampling some really potent drugs. As it turns out Charles Dodgson (AKA Lewis Carroll) grew up in an area of Darlington,England known as Hell's Kettles. Hell's Kettles were thought to be bottomless pits at that time. The photographic model for the original Alice (Mary Badcock) lived in a home near there that collapsed. The bedrock in this area is gypsum which dissolves 100 times faster than limestone.
The Kettles are two pools, one is the only body of spring water fed open water in County Durham and has clear water. The other called the Double Kettle used to be two ponds that joined,it is fed by surface runoff and the water is turbid.
