I must have missed hearing about this in 2001...my pre-retirement,never ending days. The US dropped Pop Tarts and other high calorie ready to eat meals over Afghanistan with the intention of feeding the hungry and a show of good will. There are so many ways this seems wrong it is hard to know where to start. How did they know it was getting into the hands it was intended for instead of fueling the enemy's appetites? it was said they studied the areas the drops were made to avoid detonating land mines so most of the drops were made in the mountains...the Pop Tarts will be discovered and studied thousands of years from now to determine what they were! Not to mention is the Pop Tart a good way to represent our country? would Pop Tarts be recognized as food? and never mind feeding the hungry at home first. Okay,off the soap box for today!
